Nielsen Brothers was founded in 1930 by Harold and Walter Nielsen offering fresh, locally sourced, natural and organic foods, wines and spirits. Nielsen Brothers was the first full service grocery store in Carmel By the Sea, the first grocery store to offer liquor after Prohibition was repealed and the first to offer local residents the convenience of home delivery services

What makes Nielson Brothers market different from other local/national grocery stores?
Nielsen Brothers curates each and every product in our store to ensure that we offer our customers the very best product options in every grocery category. This includes Organic Produce, Non-GMO, Grass Fed, Locally Grown and Sourced and Healthy and Safe products.
What types of Fine Wines are available?
We offer fine and rare local Carmel Valley, Napa, Sonoma, French, Italian and other European wines ranging from $10 to $2,000.
What types of Allocated Spirits are available?
We offer all of the popular spirits in each category in addition to special, allocated spirits that are very rare and only allocated to special retailers such as Nielsen Brothers.
Aren't all Organic Produce the same?
Unfortunately, they’re not. Many of the local and national grocery stores buy some of their “organic” produce from foreign countries, such as China, which means the customer has no idea if the product meets USDA Organic standards. Nielsen Brothers only buys organic produce from local growers in Northern California and other US cities and never would trust organic produce from a foreign country without an USDA Organic designation.
Why should I buy Grass Fed Meats?
Nutrition — beef is higher in omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for heart health and may help reduce inflammation. It also contains more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a beneficial fat that may help improve immunity and reduce inflammation.
